Hello

I’m Jenny and I am a Professional Organiser based in Tyne and Wear in the North East of England.

With over a decade of working within the NHS as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, I am experienced in working with people to make changes that improve their lives.

I now work with a more specific aim of improving wellbeing by decluttering and reorganising the environment we live in.

I am a verified member of the Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers (APDO), the UK's membership association for decluttering and organising professionals. APDO sets standards, provides professional development and supports the growth of the industry. I adhere to their code of ethics.

I hold public liability and professional indemnity insurance. I have an ICO registration certificate and a current DBS check.

Getting your ducks in a row

I love this saying because I like things to make sense and to be in order. Creating structure and routine can bring a sense of ease and joy - much as this picture drawn by my daughter does!!

Life becomes so much easier when things simply make sense, I guess that's why we get so much satisfaction from doing jigsaws, first we look for the corners, find the edges then fill in that blank space, hoping that it will look better than the moment that we tipped the pieces from the box into a pile in front of us.

This is what decluttering means to me, it is an opportunity to look at the items in front of us, and work out how they fit together to create a different picture that represents the way you hoped that space could be.

Jigsaws are not always easily completed, especially by yourself. However, with a cup of tea and some company it suddenly becomes easier and that is my goal; to make this potential challenge in front of you simpler by showing up and working alongside you to achieve your goal of improving your space.

Through my own experiences I have gathered skills and knowledge to help us as we go, some of these have been through training and practice but the most valuable are through living it. I've moved house over twenty times, i've renovated my home with my husband where every room has served every function and many items have been moved and repurposed until we settled into knowing our home and the best way it and its contents works for us.

Looking back now, I have found from this a sense of relief, and an increased sense of wellbeing as those busy years are calming down, that the items have found their places, that my energy can focus on other important matters.

As a Mum, this has been timed to perfection, as I find that a 7 year old and a 4 year old gather belongings with ease and prefer to keep them all regardless of whether they have grown out of them or not!

I have held an interest in organising, developing and evolving systems for quite some time however it is only recently that i realised that I enjoy the process as much as seeing the outcome. Particularly with the awareness i've developed from years of working with a focus on mental health, that a safe and comfortable space can bring such benefits for our wellbeing. I bring the ability to listen, support and empathise as well as enthusiasm to help you to achieve your goal and hopefully make positive change towards your own wellbeing.

It would be lovely to have a chat if my approach sounds like it could work for you and you would like to know more about how you can take the next steps to improving this important part of your life.
